In 1912 when Pilgrim, an aristocratic art historian attempts to take his own life he is checked into the Buurgholz Psychiatric Clinic to be treated by the renowned Carl Jung. When Jung begins to probe Pilgrim's mind he discovers that he is treating a man who cannot die, a man who has traveled the world and met some of history's most notable figures.
