Summary
T. Stanley Morris was one of the adventurous spirits and darling travelers of the Celtic connection who left Wales in the early 1900's to find fortune in Canada. Morris, a seaman, joined the Canadian Arctic Expedition of 1913 beguiled by the knowledge that on the same expedition were the famous Antarctic explorers, Dr. Alistair Forbes Mackay and James Murray. This is T. Stanley Morris' story as he became part of a Canadian expedition under Vilhjalmur Stefansson, an expedition that came to be known as the greatest Arctic disaster since the Franklin Expedition of 1845. Morris, who had been a seaman gunner in the Royal Navy, had already witnessed much of the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905. He had known shipwreck rounding the Horn, experienced drift back to Cape Town, and was shipwrecked again before he finally reached Vancouver and embarked on his last voyage.
