Summary
This document updates a 1991 code of practice to provide managers of federal property in the Atlantic region with a guide to assist them in making safe, responsible decisions that reduce the risk of pesticides to employees, bystanders, the community, and the environment. Part I contains a table of best practices for pest management decision-making & on all aspects of pest control product management. Part II provides background on pesticide legislation, pest management, pest control product transportation, storage & handling of pesticides, pesticide handling & disposal, environmental factors, and emergency response planning. Appendices include checklists & inspection forms, a directory of hazardous waste services, text of special provisions of legislation related to transport of dangerous goods, a copy of the federal government hazardous substances directive, and information on recommended aquatic set-backs to be observed during pesticide application.
