In the middle of the 19th century, on the shores of Lake Saint-Pierre, in the beautiful region of Yamachiche and Pointe-du-Lac, a young woman of fifteen experienced an unusual destiny, inseparable from that of the people who revolve around her. Her daring will soon turn the life of a man twenty years her senior and her whole family upside down. Her life will be woven of struggles to exercise a profession hitherto reserved for men and of amorous torments to which the customs of the time and the hold of Christian morality were not foreign.
