Summary
By the fall of 1942, German U-boats had struck deep into the mighty St. Lawrence River sinking 21 ships and killing more than 250 people. Germany had reached its goal. It had effectively shut down the St. Lawrence River to all Canadian convoys destined for Great Britain. The people living along the St. Lawrence began fearing the worst - a German landing.
