Summary
In the late 1800s Jack Miner was an illiterate brickmaker and skilled woodsman whom many regarded as the greatest hunter in Canada. By the end of the second decade of the twentieth century he had become a renouned author and lecturer and a world-famous naturalist -- regarded by many as "The Father of Conservation". Among the many accolades he received, Jack was awarded the Order of the British Empire by King George VI and posthumously honoured by an act of Canadian Parliament proclaiming National Wildlife Week in his honour.
