Summary
Looks at the effects on the third generation of youth in the village of Sheshatshiu, Labrador, after the Innu, who were traditionally nomadic hunters, were forced to restrict their hunting, settle down and put their children in school. Discusses the alcoholism, drug abuse, and domestic violence that became widespread as the Innu struggled to balance the old and new ways. Focuses on six young people who talk about addiction, suicide, lack of jobs, and hopelessness. Also includes interviews with elders, grandparents, community leaders, and teachers.
