Summary
In Victorian England, Captain Crewe goes off to fight in the Boer War and leaves his daughter Sara in Amanda Minchin's school. Sara is immediately dubbed "The Little Princess" because of her regal bearing and attitude. When word comes that her father has died in Africa, Sara refuses to believe it. Penniless, she is made a galley slave by Miss Minchin, who mistreats her in every way possible.
