Head shaving party! Something that a 41-year-old vibrant young woman should never be planning. Yet here I was. I didn't know how it would end or how I would have the strength to endure it. "Be brave Denika, be strong. It's only hair. It's going to be ok." I had to believe that to keep going. The day I posted that I had cancer, one of my friends sent me this quote: "I've battled my whole life to become the strong woman I am today. If you think you can take me down after all that I've been through, give it your best shot. You will not succeed." Well, that quote marched its way into my reserve. I sat a little straighter after that, knowing that I will fight this thing head on with the determination of a lion. Journey with me as I bring you through a year of battling breast cancer.
