Since the departure of her father, Mathilde has left the CEGEP to support herself and her mother who has become an alcoholic. The girl is a cashier in a grocery store, where she suffers the execrable mood of a superior who harasses her relentlessly. Unable to bear more, Mathilde decides to end this hellish life.
