Kate loves running, bird watching, and her grandparents' farm. She is a typical whiny, selfish 15-year-old who doesn't get along with her mother. Spending the summer with her grandparents is supposed to help her to push herself out of the center of the universe and recognize that others have problems more pressing than her own. When she arrives, she discovers that her beloved farm is for sale because her grandfather is not well and her grandmother cannot care for it alone. Then she is thrust into a family mystery as the ghost of her great-aunt begins to visit her dreams and inspire her to solve a 70-year-old puzzle. The teen's life begins to intertwine with the ghost as clues are revealed that may help save the family home. A couple of handsome yet mysterious farmhands complicate Kate's life as she struggles with the dilemma of whom she can trust.
