Part of a series which offers a view of Canada's past, by documenting events, aspects and eras in Canadian history. Accompanying each set of slides is an instructional guide (in English and French) which contains a short essay on the topic, a discussion of the historical significance of each slide, a reading list, and suggested projects. This program: chronicles the rise and fall of a Newfoundland mining community, Bell Island, which paradoxically both suffered and survived as a result of its persistant outport heritage.-
