Buddy Baker is a superhero - The Man With Animal Powers. But in today's world, who really needs an Animal Man's protection? Is it mankind, or the animals? Or is it Buddy himself. There isn't much money in the hero game, and with a wife and kids to support, Buddy is torn between trying to make a living through traditional superheroics and getting more deeply involved in the legally grey world of animal rights activism. But as he searches for a path that will keep his conscience clean and his family whole, a much greater crisis of identity is shadowing him - an existential catastrophe that threatens to undo not just Buddy's life, but all the foundationis of his reality.
