Continually inhabited for over 9,000 years, the island of Newfoundland rises from the white-capped waves of the North Atlantic as a testament to the collective hard work, determination, and ingenuity of its peoples. Roland L. NoÞel has spent much of his life contemplating the livelihoods and fortunes of these ancestors, first, growing up in Freshwater, Conception Bay, and later as custodian of his family tree.
