The story of a young woman who lives in Boston with her parents but spends her summers in Newfoundland with her grandparents, her mother's parents, and later returns to attend university in St. John's. The book is the story of her life, her relationships, and her discovery of her father's secret family, a wife and three children she does not discover until she is grown up.
