The authenticity and provenance of the so-called Vinland Map must surely be the source of one of the most controversial issues in recent world history. Almost universally declared to be a fraud, a hoax, by some of the world's most prominent scientists and academics, the considered opinions have been repeated in almost every media in the Western World. To challenge that historical and scientific gospel is at a minimum fool-hardy. However, the paradigm in which most of the experts and commentators labour is one that has no Medieval civilization in North America.
