Summary
Louise Bonßi, chief inspector of the Freiburg criminal investigation department from the capital crimes department, 42 years old, divorced, is facing a dreary winter weekend and the shadows of the past. But then a call from the head of the department disrupts the memory of the dead and those who have passed away, and Louise is given the strangest assignment of her career as a police officer: she is supposed to look for a Japanese monk who is walking in sandals and a habit through the snowy winter wasteland east of Freiburg, and find out what he plans to do. Reluctantly she sets off. When she caught up with the monk, she quickly realized two things: he was injured and he was on the run. With difficulty, Louise is able to uncover the background and thus gets on the trail of a terrible crime, in the wake of which her own life changes significantly.
