Summary
Mink live in the northern forests of Quebec, far from any human trace, except for the gravel highway that splits their territory in two. When Oakley's brother dies, hit by a car, the minks decide the road is too dangerous and forbid anyone from crossing it. Oakley is, however, curious to know what is happening on the other side, but her mother remains very vigilant and prevents any attempt to cross. The little one therefore waits until she is old enough to look for her own territory before trying again to explore what is hidden behind the highway.
