Tells the story of Namir, who encounters Wadoud, an eccentric bookseller on Mutanabbi Street during a brief visit to Baghdad after the 2003 occupation. Wadoud is working on a huge project, an index detailing the history of the war from the perspective of rocks, trees, animals and humans.
