Report on demonstration of the harvesting, chipping, delivery and burning ofhardwoods as an alternative fuel to bunker C oil in the Abitibi-Price newsprint mill at Grand Falls, Newfoundland. Trials were carried out tocompare woodchip production from a variety of forest sources, using differenttechniques for harvesting and transportation. The chips were used to replaceoil at the mill for process steam production. A cost-benefit analysis is included.
