Boarding the Starship Enterprise, Admiral Kirk thinks back to the last time he had set foot on the deck of a starship. It seems so long since he had been promoted to his prestigious but desk-bound admiralship at Starfleet Command. But now he is glad he has taken this opportunity to join the Enterprise on its annual trainee flight. Under the command of Captain Spock, assisted by the brilliant and beautiful young Lt. Saavik, Spock’s half-Vulcan, half-Romulan protÔegÔee and first officer, the inexperienced crew of cadets prepare for their first space flight at their new posts. Even the spunky Peter Preston, Chief Engineer Scott’s 14-year-old nephew, feels nervous at his console in the engineering room, especially with the Admiral, the legendary Jim Kirk, right there, inspecting, questioning, observing.
