Summary:
At the ColisÔee de QuÔebec, fans are shouting the name of an exceptional young pee-wee player. In 1969, Guy Lafleur joined forces with the Remparts. Obviously, the one who already stirs up the crowds has an extraordinary talent! In 1971, he gave his first outings with the Montreal Canadiens, his favorite team. Spectators witness the birth of a legend: at the Forum, we only have the Blond Demon and his cookie-cutter games. Probably the best hockey player in the world during the 1970s, Guy Lafleur was admired for his spirited style. His exploits during his 17 seasons in the National Hockey League, notably with the Canadiens and the Nordiques, and his conquest of 5 Stanley Cups have contributed to making him the idol of a people. But if the athlete was incomparable, the man was not infallible. His admirers recognized themselves all the more in this imperfect man, endearing by his simplicity. And this love was reciprocal: for Flower, the respect of the public was sacred. This is probably the reason why he was, in the eyes of his teammates, his opponents and the fans, a natural leader.
