When the summer holidays are just around the corner, Hans and Petra decide to go camping on Lake Garda in Italy with their eleven-year-old son Niels. Niels quickly makes friends and soon roams the campsite with them all day long. Until one evening he is not back at the appointed time. Hans goes on a worried search and makes a terrible discovery. In the bushes he finds the body of a boy. Niels sits nearby, in shock. Because the suspected perpetrator drowned in Lake Garda after a chase by Hans, the police quickly consider the case closed. Back home, the traumatized Niels goes to therapy, because he still can't talk about that night. Until a few months later they learn that another murder has been committed in the same area. Niels can remember more and more details of the earlier murder and they are asked to come to Italy for the police investigation. They couldn't have done that better...
