Summary:
Jean Crane - born in North West river in 1929, she was the twelfth of thirteen children. Her father trapped near Rigolet. Recalls rowing across the river carrying milk on a daily basis, happier in the boat than doing housework. She settled in Happy Valley, 1940, and worked at the Goose Bay US Air Base. Describes her summer occupatin of jigging and salting fish, also her many partridge hunts. She has prodeuced several paintings which have toured the island.

Jim and Maggie Saunders - born 1909, Cartwright, Jim later settled in Davis Inlet, where his life was influenced by the Naskaupi Indians with whom he lived. hardly bothered by the depression, he couldn't make a living solely through fishing, so he trapped too, selling his furs to Hudson Bay Company. His wife, maggie, was born near Okak. As a child she learned to trap, fish, cook and sew.
