Dannehar and Oskin had played their parts in the Civil War, ranging outside the law in their time, and then established reputations as peace officers in the wild days of untamed towns and cattle feuds that followed the war. Now an outlaw element was gathering in the Indian Nations where a new menace had raised its head.
