Two months after 9/11, an expatriate family takes a road trip outside Albania's capital. Despire its location at the crossroads between Italy and Greece, Eirope's only Muslim country is largely avoided by foreigners. Albania's money laundering and reputation as a terrorist haven raises safety issues, even though multinationals see investment opportunities. Tony hopes the family outing will restoer some good will with his teenage daughter. Their consulate has requested he note illegalities en route, but this diplomatic contact becomes a mafia target. Tony begins to suspect that dire consequences are possible and his sense of adventure is misplaced.
