A raid on a money shipment in the town of Appsley leaves a sheriff and a guard dead and another man wounded. When lawman Pete Hewitt is sent to keep order, another murder confirms Hewitt's suspicions that someone in town is involved. Problems escalate for Pete: he antagonizes a gunman called The Count and when it looks as if he can unmask the villains his life is in danger. Can he survive and run the law-breakers to ground?
