1st to die: Four women--a police detective, an assistant D.A., a reporter, and a medical examiner who call themselves the Women's Murder Club--develop lifelong bonds as they pursue a killer whose twisted imagination has stunned an entire city.

2nd chance: San Francisco has been rocked by another set of sensational killings, which appear unrelated to all but Det. Lindsay Boxer, who calls together her professional women friends, a reporter, an ADA, and a Medical Examiner. Not surprisingly, considering this group's past adventures, they come up with a link, and a trap in which to catch the perpetrator.

3rd degree: Detective Lindsay Boxer is jogging along a beautiful San Francisco street when a fiery explosion rips through the neighborhood. A town house owned by an Internet millionaire is immediately engulfed in flames, and when Lindsay plunges inside to search for survivors, she finds three people dead. An infant who lived in the house cannot be found--and a mysterious message at the scene leaves Lindsay and the San Francisco Police Department completely baffled.
