In the spring of 1836, nearly 200 settlers in Texas revolted against the new dictator, General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. This provoked one of the most fascinating battles in history. Led by three men: the young, brash Colonel William Travis; the violent, passionate knife fighter Jim Bowie; and the larger-than-life legend Davy Crockett - the Texans felt they had no choice but to defend their fortress to the bitter end.
