Summary:
A memoir by the lead singer of the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden, which was formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. Bruce Dickinson joined the group in 1981, replacing Paul Di'Anno, and debuted on their 1982 album The Number of the Beast. Dickinson quit Iron Maiden in 1993 (being replaced by Blaze Bayley). Bruce Dickinson traces his experiences outside of the entertainment industry while sharing insight into his solo work, his turbulent childhood, his battle with cancer, and his views on Iron Maiden's enduring cultural influence. His other activities include being an airline captain, aviation entrepreneur, motivational speaker, beer brewer, novelist, radio presenter, and film scriptwriter. He describes his childhood within the eccentric British school system, his early bands, fatherhood and family, and his recent battle with cancer.
