It is almost the year 2000, and whole continents have blacked out under solar flares. Vegetation is dying under withering ultraviolet radiation that can blind in minutes. The world economy inches towards collapse. Then an earthquake shatters the Antarctic icecap, hurling mountains of ice into the oceans and setting off enormous waves - tsunamis - that travel hundreds of kilometres in a single hour. How can the chaos be controlled?
