Agatha has fallen in love with George, the local gardener in her Cotswolds village. When he doesn't show up at the charity ball, where she intends to dance with him, she goes looking for him. She finds he has been murdered, bitten by a poisonous snake and buried in a compost heap. If she can't have George, at least she will have the satisfaction of solving the crime.
