Summary:
Red Bay - a 16th century Basque galleon wrecked on its harbour bottom and the remains of a whaling station on its shore have given this southern Labrador community prominence. We examine these discoveries as well as the area for a probable connections with northern Spain.

Brigus - birthplace of Captain Bob Bartlett, famous explorer and geographer, Brigus is one of Newfoundland's oldest settlements. Large forested areas nearby were felled for shipbuilding materials and firewood. Also seen are the occupations of some early settlers.
