Winter fishery revisited - the draggers fishing off Port Aux Basques were visited in 1982. Since, the fishery has become a bonanza attracting small draggers from all over Newfoundland. It's a short few weeks allowing fishermen a chance to gain a year's voyage.

Herring : a revival - the herring fishery in Newfoundland has been on hold for a number of years. Severely depleted stocks forced the closing down of all but a limited seiner fishery on the West Coast. But recent surveys indicate the stocks are coming back, and a limited fishery for small boats has been carried out.
