Reta Duvall-Cummings, matriarch of her clan, is the granddauthter of Pleasant Duvall who came by foot from New Orleans to Collingwood in the 1860s. Reta"s story represents the lives of many of the people who came to Ontario to freedom following the passage in the U.S. of the Fugitive Slave Act along the underground Railroad.
