Fabian Risk watches over the side of his shot-injured daughter Matilda, who is in a coma at Helsingborg's hospital, at the same time as a brutal murder of a refugee boy from Syria throws the city's criminal police into a new complicated investigation with racist signs. But nothing is as simple as it first seems and when several new murders take place, Lilja, Klippan and the others at the Helsingborg police are soon in an increasingly pressured hunt for several perpetrators. In the end, Fabian is forced back into service even though he would have preferred to devote himself to his family, and the head of the criminal police, Astrid Tuvesson, interrupts her twelve-step treatment against alcoholism, even though it has only just begun, to lead the work of the parallel investigations.
