James Geraldi has been dubbed the "Frigate Bird" because of his penchant for stealing from thieves. In this trio of adventures, the thief of thieves sets his sights on the Golden Horus, a statue in honor of the Egyptian god that is fashioned in gold and inlaid with four perfect emeralds and a large, flawless, yellow diamond. Found and smuggled to America by archeologist Robert Ingall, the treasure was stolen by a group of international jewel thieves. When Geraldi succeeds in stealing it back, he returns it to Mary Ingall, the deceased archeologist's daughter -- only to find her house surrounded by thieves intent on killing him.
