Death remains the greatest of mysteries; few are those who fully accept the ephemeral nature of their time on earth. In order to challenge our own finality, we are investing huge sums to counter aging and retain youth. This reflex to postpone, or even deny, the arrival of the grim reaper owes a lot to the taboo that surrounds it. But is there really reason to fear eternal rest? Will this really put an end to our existence? Could it rather turn out to be a prodigious experience, an open door to evolution? A physician and philosopher in his spare time, GaÔetan Brouillard has had the privilege of accompanying the dying on many occasions until their last breath.
