Seven-year-old Leland loves to draw but has trouble writing. He dislikes his teacher who doesn't understand him and conjures up an imaginary seeing-eye dog to help him into class each day. When a neighborhood painter recognizes Leland's gifts as an artist, Leland becomes more confident about the world as he uniquely sees it.
