After a life of adventure, Nanuktalva, an old Inuit, retires to Timmins, in northern Ontario. There he befriends a five-year-old girl, to whom he teaches everything he knows about Nordic life, its challenges, its mysteries and its wolves. In passing, he introduced him to the customs of his people, his language and his legends. He will even train him in forms of Nordic combat. But this happiness will not last. At the dawn of her 17 years, Gaia's life takes an unexpected turn. She is taken in in Vancouver by an aunt who has villainous plans for her. Old Nanuktalva will not let her and will fight with all his might to protect Gaia, this child he loves as his own daughter.
