When Temperance Brennan is called to investigate the death of a man who drowned in the midst of a bizarre sex act, she knows the case will be anything but ordinary. However, when the victim is identified as John Lowery, a man who was reportedly killed in a helicopter crash in Vietnam over 40 years ago, Tempe sets off to Hawaii to find some answers. There, Tempe is given another case when the body of a young boy washes ashore and appears to be the victim of a shark attack.
