A romance in 12th century Scotland between two people who don't want to have anything to do with each other. They are Waryk de Graham, a Scottish knight and Mellyora MacAdin, a Viking lady handy with a sword. Both are already in love with others, but are forced into marriage by the king for political reasons. In time, however, politics gives way to love.
