David Abden, a young man on the move in London during the 1960s and 1970s, is determined to go straight after a brief prison stay. He joins an exclusive cosmetics firm, becomes involved with its exotic founder, marries a wealthy fencing champion, and unexpectedly inherits a Scottish baronetcy.
