The author, Boyd Holloway, was born and raised in Bloomfield. Active in the Witnesses' faith from an early age, his first book chronicles his experiences as a Witness child, teenager, pioneer and elder spanning nearly 70 years. It also records the stories of the courageous and dedicated men and women, most of whom he has known personally, who spearheaded the development of the organization of Jehovah's Witnesses in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1914.
