When Alice Cherville meets William Pinfrith, the half-brother of the arrogant Earl of Bradenstoke, and learns of his mistreatment, she sympathizes. Regarding the earl as the enemy, Alice wants to tell him precisely what she thinks of him. Her opportunity comes when she arrives for a romantic rendezvous with Mr. Pinfrith--only to be met by the rakishly handsome earl instead.
