A couple of years ago a writer named Richard Lockridge met - and soon decided he'd very much like to marry - another writer named Hildegarde Dolson. But there were a few problems. Miss Dolson was not especially attracted to the idea of marriage (she once wrote a magazine article called 'Why I'd make an Awful Wife'), and when it came to pets she was partial to dogs. Meanwhile, out in the country where Mr. Lockridge lived, two Siamese cats, Pam and Sherry, were in possession.
