Profiler Liz retires from the FBI after a serial killer chooses her 8 year old daughter as his victim. Her husband, already emotionally unstable, goes into a catatonic state. Her ex-husband, charismatic FBI team leader Jake, was the one that found Fiona buried alive, but Liz lashed out at him and wanted him to stay away from the funeral. Now Jake has traveled upstate to let her know that the "Eemetary Man" seems to be headed her way with a whole new bunch of victims. The serial killer always treated Liz as a worthy adversary and is trying once again to pull her into his web of intrigue. Unbeknownst to Jake, when Liz left him after their brief marriage (she caught him in bed with another woman), Liz was pregnant. She passed the child off as her current husband's and hoped that Jake would find out the truth.
