In the 2005 throne speech, the government of Newfoundland and Labrador outlined an integrated, coherent provincial strategy called Cultural Connections, through which the province's history and culture would be affirmed as a key feature of the kindergarten to grade 12 curriculum and students would develop a critical awareness of the role of the arts in creating and reflecting Newfoundland and Labrador heritage.
