Summary:
In this work the poet, expelled from Rome in the year 8 after Christ by the emperor Octavian Augustus to the confines of the Empire, probably due to the lascivious content of the verses that make up his Ars amatoria or Ars amandi, which disgusted the already elderly emperor, he addresses himself in epistolary form, but in elegiac couplets, asking the emperor for forgiveness (book II, unique elegy), his wife, family and friends.
