I Breathe Their Names Once More is a collection of short stories dedicated to the lives of real women, Elizabeth Lawford, Emma Jane Coveyduck and Ida Phoebe Parsons, who lived in pre-confederation Newfoundland. Elizabeth Lawford follows her husband across the Atlantic from England, leaving behind her aging parents and all she had ever known to forge a life in a new colony. Emma Jane Coveyduck contemplates the curse that follows her throughout her life. Ida Phoebe Parsons is a modern, progressive woman in 1934, sent by Dr. Blackall of Memorial College to set up an Opportunity School for adult education in the town of Harbour Grace.
